Since you're here, you're probably seeking to get a better grasp of scoring, which is great! Once you've mastered it, you'll hold a lasting advantage in the game, boosting your chances of success. Here are some insider tips and tricks to help you become a Powerplay Pro.
Each role in your lineup earns points based on both positive and negative actions of the player and their team during a round. Every significant in-game action scores fantasy points.
Detailed in-game point calculations are displayed after the end of each fantasy round in the Round results section. To view them, open your lineup for the completed round and click the Review score calculations button.
The most important metrics for understanding lineup calculations are:
Player score
The player score is the total amount of individual player points from specific in-game events per map, multiplied by the corresponding event coefficient.
Formula:
Player score = ∑ (Events per map × Event coefficient)
For example:
The coefficient for Kills AWP (kills with an AWP rifle using a sniper scope) is 1.5.
Key notes:
Player points are earned based on the player's actions and do not change depending on the assigned role.
These actions include kills, assists, and clutches.
The basis for player point calculation is a single map.
Events per map
Events per map is the normalized parameter which is the product of dividing the number of game events by the number of maps played in the match, i.e. average number of particular game events per map.
Event coefficient
Event coefficient — a universal multiplier for game events which doesn’t depend on the game role. It’s used to calculate the player score.
For example:
the coefficient of the game action Kills AWP (kills with an AWP rifle using a sniper scope) is 1.5.
Player score calculation:
Event | Points |
Kills | 1.5 |
Assists | 1 |
Deaths | -1 |
Headshots | 0.25 |
3 kill | 3 |
4 kill | 4 |
Ace | 5 |
Kills AWP | 1.5 |
Team kills | -2 |
Entry kills | 0.75 |
Entry deaths | -0.5 |
1v1 clutch* | 0.5 |
1v2 clutch* | 1 |
1v3 clutch* | 2 |
1v4 clutch* | 3 |
1v5 clutch* | 4 |
*Clutch win — round won 1 vs X enemies with any condition. X — number of enemies alive at the moment of your last teammate's death.
Role score
The role score consists of additional points received from a role-specific coefficient that modifies the base player score. The IGL role score is based on team score, while all other roles are based on player score.
Formula:
RS = ∑ (Player score × Role coefficient)
Now, role perks introduce an additional layer of customization. Each card has a unique perk that increases role points (or team points for IGLs) by a percentage amount.
Updated formula with role perks:
RS_final = RS + (RS × Role Perk Bonus%)
For example, if a card has a +10% role perk bonus, the final role score will be increased by 10% before further multipliers are applied.
For IGLs, the role perk bonus is applied to team role score rather than individual player score.
Role coefficients
A role coefficient is a multiplier based on a player's role. It is used to calculate role score.
Role multipliers
Role | Event | Role score = RoleCoef x Player score |
Sniper | Kills with AWP | x1 |
IGL | Sweep bonus, match win | Sweep bonus x0.7, Match win x0.7 |
Entry Fragger | Entry kills | x1.4 |
Support | Assists, deaths | Assists x1 Deaths x0.2 |
Kill Machine | Multi Frags (triple kill, quad kill, ace), Headshots | triple kill, quad kill, ace x0.4 Headshot x1 |
After applying role multipliers, the role perk bonus is applied as an additional percentage boost.
Team score
The team score consists of points given for a player's real-life team performance, independent of their individual in-game performance.
Formula:
TS = ∑ (Events per map × Event coefficient)
Two types of team events are used: match win and sweep win.
Match win is the victory of a player's team in a match.
For example:
In a bo1 series, it's a victory with a score of 1-0.
In a bo2 series, it's a victory with a score of 2-0.
In a bo3 series, such a victory is considered when the score is 2-1 or 2-0.
In a bo5 series, it can be achieved with scores of 3-0, 3-1, or 3-2.
Sweep win signifies a decisive victory for the player's team.
For instance:
In a bo1 series, such a victory does not exist.
In a bo2 series, there is no such victory.
In a bo3 series, a sweep win is recognized when the score is 2-0.
In a bo5 series, it can be achieved with a score of 3-0.
Team point values:
Match sweep* | 3 |
Team win | 3 |
Team loss | -1.5 |
*Match sweep bonus — a bonus for 2-0 or 3-0 in bo3 or bo5, respectively.
Team score (IGL bonus)
For the IGL role, the role score is based on team performance rather than player stats.
Formula:
TR = ∑ (Team score × Role coefficient) + (∑ (Team score × Role coefficient) × Role Perk Bonus%)
Here, the role perk coefficient is applied to team role score rather than player score.
Final player & role score
To determine the total player and role score, the final role score (including the perk effect) is added to the base player score and team role score (if applicable).
Formula:
PR = Player score + Role score (after perk) + Team role score (if applicable)
Star card score
Star points (score): bonus points awarded to the player selected as the Star. These additional points are granted as a 20% increase (score multiplier x1.2, known as the Star Multiplier) in their base score for a particular round.
You can appoint a Star player in your team by clicking on the star above the card. Any card in the lineup may be selected. A x1.2 point multiplier will be applied to that player's total points.
Final card score calculation
To fully incorporate role perks into the final card score formula, the perk’s effect is applied before the Star multiplier:
Formula:
CS = (PS + TS + RS + RS × Role Perk Bonus%) × Star Multiplier
This update ensures role perks play a key role in the final tournament score. Because role perks are unique to each card, even duplicate cards can have different scoring potential. Strategic card selection is now more critical than ever.
Impact of role perks on scoring strategy
With role perks, no two cards are the same, even if they represent the same player. This system adds a new level of strategy to Powerplay, making lineup decisions even more complex and rewarding.
How role perks affect gameplay:
Every card is unique — role perks ensure that even duplicate cards can score differently.
Role perks + Star bonuses — combining role perks and the Star player multiplier can significantly boost a lineup’s performance.
IGL perk impact — team-based strategies are now more valuable, as IGL role perks amplify team-based role score generation.
By understanding these mechanics, managers can optimize their lineups to maximize perk bonuses and gain an edge in fantasy tournaments.
Now that you have a grasp of scoring, you'll gain a more profound understanding of your lineup's effectiveness, and you'll be able to build stronger teams.
Take full advantage of role perks to build a stronger, more optimized lineup.
Experiment with different perks and roles to discover what works best.
Keep track of how perks impact performance over multiple rounds.
Remember, practice is key to achieving success. You can apply your newfound knowledge and experiment without affecting your position on the leaderboard by taking part in a Practice Tournament. There, you can observe in practice how scoring works in practice.
Good luck, Manager!
See you at the top of the leaderboard.
