Scoring and roles

There are five different roles for the selected roster.

Each role earns points based on the positive and negative actions of the player and their team in a round. Almost every important in-game action yields fantasy points. If someone has a big game in real life, it would be a big fantasy game as well.

Point categories

Points can be split into several categories according to their origin:

  • Player score (PS) — Earned by the actions of the selected player and do not change depending on the role. These actions include kills, assists, and clutches. The basis for player point calculation is a single map game.

  • Team score (TS) — Derived from the real-life team results of the selected player, such as a team win or a sweep (clean) win. Team points are calculated based on match (boX series) results.

  • Role score (RS) — Calculated based on the results of specific bonus actions for the selected role. For example, the sniper role earns bonus points for each kill with a sniper rifle. This applies to all roles except IGL, which earns points based on team points instead of player points.

  • Role perks (new!) — Each card now has a unique role perk that increases the points earned for role-specific actions. These perks act as an additional bonus to role points (or team role points for the IGL role) and are applied every round. Similar to how a star player provides a +20% point boost, role perks enhance a player’s effectiveness in a given role, influencing overall tournament scores.
Beyond scoring, perks also add to the collectible value of cards. Since every card’s perks are randomly assigned, some combinations will be stronger than others — making it worthwhile to hunt for the best possible cards.

  • Star points (score) — The player selected as a star gets 20% extra points in the round.

Detailed in-game point calculations are displayed after the end of each fantasy round in the Round Results section.

Future updates

Later on, we plan to add experience points earned by each card based on its in-game activity. We expect to make game balance changes as we accumulate more data. The frequency of these adjustments will be determined by the data we gather, with fewer changes coming later as the game becomes more balanced.

Description of role slots in the game:

Player rating

Player rating is an indicator of a player's performance. Rating is one of the most important player metrics to track. It is calculated as the average player score for the last 10 maps. The current player rating is displayed next to the card, with more details in the Powerstats section.

Role Perks

Each card has a randomly assigned role perk that increases role points by a certain percentage every round. This adds a new layer of strategy, as players with strong perks in key roles can outperform expectations.

Final card score calculation

To fully incorporate role perks into the final card score formula, the perk’s effect is applied before the Star multiplier:

CS = (PS + TS + RS + RS × Role Perk Bonus%) × Star Multiplier

This update ensures role perks play a key role in the final tournament score. Because role perks are unique to each card, even duplicate cards can have different scoring potential. Strategic card selection is now more critical than ever.

Impact of role perks on strategy

With role perks, the scoring system evolves, making even duplicate cards unique. Two cards of the same player can now have different point outputs, depending on their assigned role perks.

Managers should now consider not just a player's base stats, but also the perk bonuses when assigning roles. These changes introduce a new level of depth to fantasy CS2 strategy, allowing for more diverse and competitive lineup-building.

Mastering the use of role perks will separate good managers from great ones. Those who optimize their lineup to maximize perk bonuses will gain a significant edge in tournaments.
